To Display or Not to Display

I am never satisfied with my craft show display. I want to give my customers many options, but I afraid that I might just make shopping more difficult by doing that. I got this great vintage letterpress drawer recently, which is great for me to hold my stock, but I am thinking using it as a display (and retiring my ramps.) I think if the pieces were organized by color maybe it would be a little less overwhelming? What do you think? too much? Just plain ugly? Could I paint it? I would definaly want it to stand up, or at an angle. Too many choices, help!
I just arranged by color, and it already looks better!
Now I have added colored cardstock in each square. Too much rainbow? It really helps with organization!

I love your current display. It’s great that it angles up and doesnt take too much shape up on the table. Maybe both though?? If you painted this new drawer black? It would make the white in the plates show up nicely. My thoughts!
I love the vitage look of the drawer, but I do think painting it like a glossy black, might look kinda cool. ohh, why must I obsess.
I absolutely love the drawers idea. And I think arranging them by color would look excellent. If you have room, I would use both. Good luck!
I vote no paint!! It looks so lovely as is, and since many of your plates are vintage, it only adds to the feel, no? Arranging by color definitely helps make it looks more streamlined though. I dig it… use it! Can you use this tray flat on the table and re-vamp the ramps instead somehow to use both?
PS. Did I mention I’m also obsessed with letterpress trays - I own two and I love them!
I like the arranged by color idea (though I love your current setup as well).
I would lose the rainbow cardstock…. takes away from the vintageness.
i vote brown drawer, but arrange by color. yes?
our household has a collection of broken things waiting to give you, and I always forget.
I would highlight the occasional piece with a subtle complimentary color…..or just leave it brown and arranged is color groupings. I love your work…and hope that if my old plates go in an earthquake…I will remember where to find you!
Beautiful stuff!
I have one too, I took this yesterday before I finished painting it and the easel, I’m always afraid the darker wood will make it harder for people to see at shows without electricity/lights etc, so I did mine white-
