Handmade Arcade and GBMC

Spring show time! First up is Handmade Arcade, this Saturday in Pittsburgh, PA. This was the very first show that I did in 2006, and the show that got me hooked and craft and inspired me to quit my job. This show has come a long way in 5 years. When I did it, it was in a cold dank warehouse. This year, they’ve moved on up to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and are expecting 10,000 visitors! I can’t wait. I am bringing all new stock and looking forward to getting back to where this all started.

I am also excited to announce that I will be participating in an Earth day show in Baltimore next week at GBMC. The show will be in the GBMC Physician’s Pavilion East Conference Center
Thursday, April 21 from 10-2. There will be all kinds of green exhibitors there, including one of my partners in crime, Greenstarstudio. The show is free and local, so I hope to see some of you there!

That’s all for now, stay tuned for more announcements soon!

Spring Free Pendant Sale

This week, I am offer a  free pendant with any purchase in my Etsy shop. Just write FREE PENDANT in the note to seller box at check out. I am so excited to clear out old stock and make room for all of the new pieces I am making. Sometimes, frankly, I get sick of looking at the same pieces over and over again. I hope they can all find a good home!

*Pendant is of my choosing, but if you are looking for a certain color, I will try to accommodate. Free pendant does not come with a chain. Offer valid until 3/25/11 or until I run out.

China Knuckles

I have been teasing about my silly new idea for a few days now, and finally I can  share!

China Knuckles are for the girl who wants to be chic and eco-friendly while still be conscious of self defense.

Really, it is just silliness that I, for some reason, had to make happen. I pity the fool who messes with me in a dark alley. *SMASH* Only drawback is that I bet they can only be used once.

Spring Fever

Ahhh, can you feel it in the air? Spring is on it’s way! I’m not much of a Valentine’s day fan (told J to imagine his breakfast sammich was cut into a heartshape, how romantic.) What does excite me about Valentine’s day is that St. Patrick’s day is next! SO, to celebrate, get 10% off of your order until St. Patrick’s day with coupon code SHAMROCK.

I will be adding new things daily. Come on Spring!

Closed for Vacation

I am closed for a much needed mental health break! I will be back in the office on February 8th.

If you need my custom order form, it can be found here.

You can still send your plate shards packages, I will have someone keeping them safe for me. Feel free to send any questions to me at juliet (at) ibreakplates.com and I will answer as soon as I return.

Happy Plate Breaking!

Happy New Year!

I really hope that the people who claim that the way in which you ring in the new year dictates what your year will be like are totally wrong. If this is the case, then we will be sick and sleep through it.

December was a tornado. An awesome Real Simple induced tornado, but exhausting anyway. I guess I needed the sleep on New Years.

I’m excited to get back to the grind (pun intended) and work on new work like this new Modern Circles necklace above. I’ve got lots of ideas. We’ll have to see how many of them are actually possible. That’s always the fun part.

The coupon code REALSIMPLE is active in my Etsy shop all month and will save you 10% on everything! Happy New Year!

Real Simple! The whole long story.

Yesterday was  a good day. Got to stay home with my Nolan, clean every piece of laundry that was in the house, make cookies, and enjoy the first dusting of snow. If that wasn’t enough, the mail man delivered my new slippers and a copy of Real Simple with a piece of my jewelry in it!

Real Simple was a huge goal of mine. (That and Martha, but I don’t think she is a fan since I sent her a piece of her broken Wedgewood China.) Anyway,  I was first contacted over the summer  to be a part of the holiday gift guide. I jumped, I squealed, I tried to act  cool.  I sent them a batch of pendants to chose from, they photographed one and tried to find a place for it. I guess that was a no go, because I was then told that it would be in the January issue. Again, jumping and squealing.

As the time that I was supposed to get my magazine in the mail grew closer, I became more and more nervous. See, it happened to me once before that I huge magazine, that shall remain nameless (EVOO,) pulled me at the last minute. Then something awesome happened. I started getting a ton of orders from just 2 states. In my mind I was thinking that the magazines got to these places early. I asked one of  these customers how they heard of me and she said “I saw you in Real Simple!” AHHH! I was so excited. I went to twitter where a friend from New Mexico had received hers too. A cell phone photo later, I had proof! Goal Achieved!

So, now you know why I was manically adding 500+ pieces to my Etsy shop. Next stop, Martha!

Holiday Heap and Merry Mart – This Weekend!

This week, I am cramming to get work ready for my only 2 craft shows of the season. Of course there is a chance of snow this weekend (it has snowed 7 out of the 8 last December 5ths.) It is only a chance and I think it should just serve to put people in the holiday spirit.  If you are nearby, I hope to see you, snow is no excuse after last year! If you have plates for me to break for custom orders, feel free to drop them off to me at one of these shows, just be sure to mark them well.

Holiday Heap  is Saturday, December 4 from 10-5. (One of my Fave shows to do!)

Merry Mart is Sunday, December 5 from 10-5. The artist lineup this year is awesome (and there are usually some cocktails to enjoy)
